Guide to childlanglab

Run adults

Procedure

  1. Once participants sign up:
    • Make sure they received a confirmation email from the scheduling platform that includes the correct personalized Zoom link (these can be double checked by logging into Zoom and viewing the upcoming meetings)
  2. Send a reminder email that includes the correct Zoom link
  3. Running the participant:
    • Sign into Zoom from a lab device and make sure the meeting is being recorded to the cloud
      • Introduce yourself
      • You can make sure the participant is comfortable with being recorded by saying the following: “Just wanted to let you know that we will need to record this session for coding purposes. It will be on our highly protected server and only accessible to researchers on our team. Would that be alright with you?”
    • Run study using link from database
      • If you are opening the study on your end, you will share your screen with participant (with sound!)
      • If the participant needs to open the study on their end, send the study link to them in the Zoom chat and ask that they share their screen with sound
        • Be aware of what browser(s) the study must be accessed on (make sure with your grad student) and let your participant know
          • On certain browsers, like Safari, studies may not function properly (e.g., results cannot save, display is wonky)
    • Thank them for participating and tell them you will approve their submission shortly
  4. After the study:
    • Pay the participant (approve the participant’s submission on Prolific)
    • Upload Zoom recording to the database once it is ready
    • Update the participant tracking sheet that you have ran and paid the participant and uploaded their recording
