Guide to childlanglab

Daily tasks

Purpose

So RAs know what is expected of them each shift!

Procedure

At the beginning of your shift
  1. Clock-in on the iPad
  2. If you are working the opening shift, do the opening checklist
  3. Check the lab calendar and whiteboard to see whats on your schedule today
    • Make sure the whiteboard reflects the day’s calendar and priorities accurately
  4. Send a message to the #lab-help channel to let the lab know what you are available for today
Throughout your shift
  1. If you have participants scheduled:
    • Prep your materials for running participants (grab an iPad, make sure it’s charged, etc.)
    • Login to the lab database (Retool) on the purple or blue iPads (make sure it’s through your account!)
    • Run your participant(s) and make sure records are up to date
  2. Check and respond to emails in the lab email, and update records in database accordingly
  3. Check the RA Tasks canvas in the #lab-help channel on Slack to see if anything has either been assigned to you or there is a task that you can take over
  4. Also look out for anyone reaching out to you on the #lab-help channel for some help on a task
  5. Send a study reminder to participants if they are scheduled for the next day!
    • In the database: Participant's profile > Email > Study reminder
    • You’ll need to provide the participant’s study date and time as well as the Zoom link (both can be found in Google Calender or Cal.com confirmation email for the participant(s))
  6. Send 10 recruitment emails! (our lab depends on families participating!!!)
  7. If you encounter any bugs in the database (or have a feature request), add it to the #lab-help channel on Slack
  8. Make sure to spend time on the lab’s priorities for the day
At the end of your shift
  1. Put a summary of your work for the day on Slack (#RA-worklog channel)
  2. If this is your last shift of the week, submit your hours on Workday (so you can get paid!)
  3. If you are working the closing shift, do the closing checklist
  4. Clock-out on the iPad
    • If it is the last shift of the week, charge the iPad!
