Closing checklist
Purpose
To provide a standard procedure for closing the lab at the end of each day (and week).
Procedure
- Put away the study-running iPads and lock the cabinet.
- Put away any office supplies, paper, etc.
- Straighten up work stations (push in chairs, throw away trash, tidy up).
- Wipe down all work station tables with disinfecting wipes.
- Erase the daily schedule dry erase board.
- Straigthen up the kid waiting area (put things away, tidy up, etc).
- If this is the last shift of the week:
- Plug in the iPad mini (clock-in iPad) to charge for next week.
- Wipe down the keyboards and mice.
- Tidy kitchen area (clean out fridge, empty coffee pods, refill water in coffee maker, wipe down area).
- Erase all the whiteboards (take a picture and post to lab-general if you are worried about erasing someone’s work!).
- Do not use clorox wipes on whiteboards, it takes off the finish (only use the designated erasers or the Expo whiteboard cleaning spray).
- Submit your weekly hours on Workday (guide).
- Take a picture of the main lab space and upload it to the #lab-general slack channel letting the team know you closed down for the night.
- Turn off the lights and close the doors to all lab spaces.
FAQs
- What if I forget to do some things on the checklist?
That’s ok, it happens. Just let the opener know you missed a few things and be sure to get them next time.
- What if we run out of supplies?
There are extra supplies (clorox wipes, tissues, highlighters, pens, etc) in the Study Room. If you can’t find any in the Study Room or notice we are running low in the supply cabinet, let the Lab Manager know.
