Daily tasks for lab manager

Purpose

To provide a daily checklist for the lab manager to ensure important tasks get completed on schedule

Procedure

  1. If it is the start of the week (Tuseday)
    • Send the week’s schedule on #lab-general (who’s opening/closing each day Tue-Sat; which supervisor will be there; and any notable events: lab closures, lab meeting, conference deadline, etc)
    • Send lab meeting email announcement to the Papafragou & Schuler Labs email group
  2. Check in on RA emails
    • Check the database Email history to see who has been emailing participnats
    • Check gmail to make sure RAs are responding promply and with the right tone to participant
    • Provide coaching via slack DMs immediately to help them make positive changes “thanks for emailing, you can say it like X next time”, etc.
  3. Check in on recruitment progress
    • Look at the lab calendar to see what studies have participants schedule that week
    • If it looks very slow, communicate on #lab-help to let us know you notice it has slowed down; what do people think the issue is?
    • Determine whether it’s time to post a new facebook ad
  4. Check in on coding progress
    • If any studies are being coded, check in on them to see what kind of progress the RAs are making
    • Is each RA making good progress? If not, provide coaching on efficient coding (set a timer for 30 min, do only that, then take a break, etc)
  5. If it is the end of the week (Friday)
    • Make sure all ProCard receipts are sent to Yvonne Kline
    • Publish the RA work schedule in Homebase for the following week
  6. If you are on call (on Saturday)
    • Monitor slack for questions from RAs for the designated time
    • Be sure to take time off during that week or the week after to account for your extra hours.
