Compress files with Handbrake
Purpose
To provide instructions for compressing video files using the Handbrake application.
Procedure
- If you do not have Handbrake downloaded on the computer, go to their website and click on
Download
- After downloading, open Handbrake on the computer
- You’ll be prompted to select a video file to compress; once the file opens in the Handbrake tab:
- Go to “Preset” and click on the drop down menu
- Hover over “Web” and click on the “Social 25 MB 5 Minutes 360p60” option
- Rename the video where it says “Save As” to the desired file name
- Just add compressed to the original name of the file (ex. compressed-natural-reader-file)
- Click the green “Start” button at the top of the tab to encode the file.
- This will begin encoding the video, which should only take a second
- Once the video encodes and downloads, upload it to a designated Google Drive folder
- To compress more files, click the “Open Source” button in the top left corner
- Refer back to step 3 and repeat
