Guide to childlanglab

Check lab email

Purpose

To keep the lab email organized, research records complete, and prompt response to participants and others who email the lab.

Procedure

  1. (Start when) You are checking the lab email
  2. Emails in the lab inbox will usually be:
    • Response from a participant or parent
      • Be sure to reach back out in a timely manner; if you have any questions, ask lab manager or grad student
    • Notification from childlanglab-bot
    • Notification from services we use (scheduling platforms, Zoom, Google Calendar, Google Docs, etc.)
    • Student who wants to join the lab
      • You may respond to them (add Katie and lab manager via CC)
    • Other stuff
  3. Clean up the lab inbox
    • We try to keep the inbox organized to monitor incoming emails and keep records of our studies
    • Try to sort emails into proper labels (e.g., putting a “consent” label for a Hellosign email)
  4. If you are ever not sure how to handle an email, tag it as lab-manager and leave it in the inbox
  5. (Stop when) You have processed all mail in the inbox
