Call in sick

Purpose

To provide a procedure for RAs who need to call in sick or take a personal day.

Procedure

1. Post a message to #lab-general letting the team know you are sick today.
2. If you had participants scheduled, reschedule them yourself or ask someone else to.
3. Stop working and rest!

FAQs

• I’ve never called in sick before, what should I say?

  Keep it really simple and don’t overshare: “Hi guys, I’m not feeling well and need to take a sick day. I have a few participants scheduled for today, could someone reschedule those appointments?” Everyone needs to call in sick sometimes! It’s a totally normal part of working.

• Do I get paid sick days?

  No, unfortunately student workers do not accrue sick time.

• What if I have the flu or something and I’m sick for a long time?

  Send a private message to Katie and the lab manager to let us know and we will come up with a plan together.
